Image hosting for forums with BBCode

PixGB is original-quality image hosting with copy/paste packs for forums and chat. Upload a screenshot or clan banner, copy BBCode or a direct /o/ link, and paste it into the post. Signed-in uploads keep the file you sent — no silent recompression — so forum images stay sharp and /o/{ShortCode}.ext links stay stable when you replace the file later.

This page uses the same packs PixGB shows on every public image page. The samples below use a fictional short code Ab12Cd34 — your upload gets its own code. Start on image upload. Limits and retention are on PixGB pricing.

Upload an image and copy your forum code

Open Upload. Paste a screenshot, drop a file, or pick photos. Guests and free accounts keep files until you delete.
Leave size on Keep original unless you want a smaller file. Animated GIFs stay GIFs.
On the share page, copy the pack that matches the board: BBCode, XenForo, phpBB, Invision, Reddit Markdown, or a Discord URL.
Paste into the post. The image is loaded from the direct /o/ URL, not from the HTML share page.

Folder uploads and one-click BBCode copy also live in PixGB Desktop for Windows. Bots and ShareX can take the same links from the image hosting API (data.links.bbcode).

BBCode image hosting

Most forums still use BBCode [img] tags. PixGB’s BBCode pack points at the forum-safe direct URL (file extension on the path, which picky boards require). You also get a version that links the picture to the PixGB page, and a thumbnail that opens the full image.

BBCode [img]

BBCode linked

BBCode thumb→full

The same share page also includes MyBB and vBulletin packs. They are the usual [img] / [IMG] wrappers around the same /o/ file.

XenForo

XenForo posts accept BBCode image tags. PixGB’s XenForo pack is uppercase [IMG]…[/IMG] around the direct file URL — the string the share page copies:

[IMG]https://clips.pixgb.com/o/Ab12Cd34.png[/IMG]

Paste it into the XenForo editor (BBCode mode or a post that allows images). PixGB is not a XenForo add-on and does not post to your board for you. If you replace the image in Library, this /o/ URL stays the same, so old threads keep showing the new file.

phpBB

phpBB’s image BBCode is lowercase [img]. PixGB’s phpBB pack is:

[img]https://clips.pixgb.com/o/Ab12Cd34.png[/img]

Paste it into your post. The URL ends in .png (or .jpg / .gif) so boards that reject extension-less hotlinks still render the picture. For BBCode, WebP uploads use a .jpg suffix on the URL; the stored bytes and Content-Type stay what you uploaded.

Invision Community

Invision (IP.Board) uses standard image BBCode. PixGB’s Invision pack is the same shape as generic BBCode:

[img]https://clips.pixgb.com/o/Ab12Cd34.png[/img]

Paste it into an Invision post that allows images. There is no separate Invision plugin — you are embedding a hosted file via [img].

MyBB

MyBB accepts lowercase [img] tags. PixGB’s MyBB pack wraps the same forum-safe /o/ URL used by phpBB and generic BBCode:

[img]https://clips.pixgb.com/o/Ab12Cd34.png[/img]

Paste it into a MyBB post that allows images. PixGB is not a MyBB plugin — you copy the code from the share page after upload.

vBulletin

Classic vBulletin image BBCode often uses uppercase [IMG]. PixGB’s vBulletin pack is:

[IMG]https://clips.pixgb.com/o/Ab12Cd34.png[/IMG]

Paste it into the editor (BBCode mode). Like XenForo, this is still hosted image embedding — not a board add-on.

Reddit and Discord

Reddit does not use BBCode. PixGB’s Reddit pack is Markdown:

![](https://clips.pixgb.com/o/Ab12Cd34.png)

Paste that into a Reddit post or comment. It is the direct /o/ image, not the HTML page.

Discord (and Slack) want the raw image URL. PixGB’s Discord pack is the direct link with no wrappers:

https://clips.pixgb.com/o/Ab12Cd34.png

Paste it into the channel; Discord fetches the file. Do not paste BBCode into Discord — it will show as tags, not an image. Optional hotlink lock (Library) can restrict which sites may embed the file; leave Discord’s empty referer allowed if you use that lock.

Original-quality image hosting

Forum screenshots and game assets look worse when a host re-encodes them on the quiet. Signed-in PixGB uploads store the bytes you sent. We do not run a silent JPEG/WebP recompress on the original. Thumbnails for the gallery are extra files; they do not replace /o/. If you want a smaller file, choose a resize option on Upload — that is opt-in. Guest uploads of large PNG or BMP may be saved as WebP; use a free account when you need a byte-identical original.

Stable direct image links

Embeds should use the original file URL, not the share page:

Direct / original: https://clips.pixgb.com/o/Ab12Cd34.png — /o/{ShortCode}.ext. This is what BBCode, Markdown, HTML, and Discord should use. It is not redirected when you set a custom slug.
Share page: https://clips.pixgb.com/i/Ab12Cd34 — /i/ HTML viewer (canonical slug if you set one).
Thumbnail: https://clips.pixgb.com/t/Ab12Cd34.jpg — used only in the thumb→full BBCode pack.

Replace-in-place (Library or POST /api/v1/images/{code}/replace) writes a new original behind the same /o/ path, so forum posts and headers keep working. Custom names change the /i/ page only.

Why use PixGB for forum images?

Original files — no silent recompression on signed-in uploads.
BBCode packs — generic [img], linked, thumb→full, plus XenForo, phpBB, Invision, MyBB, vBulletin.
Direct links — stable /o/{ShortCode}.ext with a file extension. Those embeds never include ads.
Ads — guests and Free see ads on PixGB pages only; Lite/Plus/Pro signed-in sessions do not. See pricing.
Reddit Markdown and Discord URLs from the same upload — not BBCode on Reddit or Discord.
Replace in place — same embed URL, new file.
Custom slugs on the share page (/i/your-name) without breaking /o/.
Image and file hosting on the same plan — zip, PDF, and video via file upload.
Retention — guests and signed-in Free/Lite/Plus/Pro until you delete (see pricing).
API and ShareX — JSON includes links.bbcode; see the API docs.
Desktop — folder upload and BBCode copy on Windows via PixGB Desktop.
Hotlink lock and embed health — optional per image in Library.

FAQ

What is BBCode image hosting?: BBCode image hosting means you upload a picture to a host such as PixGB, then paste tags like [img]https://clips.pixgb.com/o/Ab12Cd34.png[/img] into a forum post. The board turns those tags into a visible image. PixGB also gives you a linked variant, a thumbnail-to-full variant, and board-specific packs (XenForo, phpBB, Invision, MyBB, vBulletin) from the same upload.
How do I add an image to a forum post?: Open PixGB Upload, drop or paste the image, then copy a pack from the share page. For most forums paste the BBCode [img] block. For XenForo use the XenForo pack. For Reddit paste the Markdown line. For Discord paste the direct /o/ URL. You do not install a PixGB plugin on the forum — you paste the code PixGB generated.
Does PixGB compress uploaded images?: Signed-in uploads keep the bytes you sent. PixGB does not silently recompress JPEG or WebP. Gallery thumbnails are a separate file and do not replace the original. You can choose a resize option on upload if you want a smaller file. Guest uploads of large PNG or BMP may be saved as WebP.
Can I use PixGB with XenForo?: Yes. After upload, copy the XenForo pack. PixGB generates [IMG]https://clips.pixgb.com/o/Ab12Cd34.png[/IMG] using the same direct /o/ URL as other packs. Paste that into a XenForo post. PixGB is not a XenForo add-on; it is image hosting with copy/paste BBCode.
Can I use PixGB with phpBB?: Yes. Copy the phpBB pack, which is [img]https://clips.pixgb.com/o/Ab12Cd34.png[/img], and paste it into your post. Direct /o/ links include a file extension so boards that reject extension-less URLs still accept the image.
Can I use direct image links?: Yes. Every image has a stable direct URL such as https://clips.pixgb.com/o/Ab12Cd34.png. Forum BBCode, Markdown, HTML, Discord, and img tags should use that /o/ link. The /i/ page is the share page. Replacing the file in Library keeps the same /o/ URL so existing forum posts keep working.
